About Us - Rich History of Our Little Jewellery Store

The little family-owned jewellery store on the corner of the main street of Atherton has been a renowned jeweller and watch repair shop since the 1940s. Ray & Gwen Sampson initially opened the shop in the early 1940s during the Second World War. American soldiers, here on the Atherton Tablelands, bought jewellery and gifts to send to their families back in America.

In 1942, the Sampsons sold the business. It was then owned by a Miss Pink until 1949. From 1949 the name of the shop became Westcott Jewellers. It continued to trade under the Westcott name until 1975, when the name changed to Saunder’s. The name finally became Arabella Jewellers from 2007. It is safe to say that this little family-owned jewellery store has a history going back nearly 80 years.
